Marrakesh Medina

Marrakesh Medina

The Medina of Marrakech is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The city itself was founded between 1070 and 1072 and grew into an important political and cultural centre for a very long time. The Medina is filled with very impressive monuments like the Koutoubia Mosque, which has a 77-meter-tall minaret. Other monuments in Marrakech’s Medina are battlements, monumental doors, the Kasbah and several beautiful and lush gardens that all date back to the period when Marrakesh was founded.

There are several other buildings and sites in the Medina that were built after that period. Like the Bandiâ Palace, the Madrasa, Residences, an open-air theatre and the Saadian Tombs.
