El Yunque

El Yunque National Forest, located in northeastern Puerto Rico, is a nature lover's paradise.

This lush rainforest is home to an abundance of tropical flora and fauna, and offers visitors the chance to experience the island's natural beauty in a truly unique way.

The park offers a variety of hiking trails, from easy nature walks to strenuous treks. Some of the most popular trails include the La Mina Trail, which leads to a picturesque waterfall, and the Yokahú Tower Trail, which offers panoramic views of the forest from the top of the mountain.

In addition to hiking, visitors can also enjoy camping, picnicking, and bird-watching. The park is home to over 240 species of birds, making it a popular destination for birders.

El Yunque is also steeped in history and culture. The Taíno Indians, the island's indigenous people, considered the forest to be sacred and believed that the gods lived in the clouds above the mountain. Visitors can learn more about the Taíno culture at the El Portal Rainforest Center, which features interactive exhibits and a film on the history and ecology of the forest.

Whether you're looking for a relaxing nature walk, an adrenaline-pumping hike, or a chance to learn about the island's rich history and culture, El Yunque National Forest has something to offer everyone. Don't miss the opportunity to experience one of Puerto Rico's most beautiful natural wonders.
