Donauturm

Donauturm

Welcome to the Donauturm, one of the most iconic landmarks in Vienna!

This tower stands at a towering height of 252 meters, making it the tallest structure in Austria and one of the tallest observation towers in Europe. The tower offers breathtaking views of Vienna, the Danube River, and the surrounding countryside.

Built in 1964, the Donauturm was designed by Hannes Lintl and Heinz Politzer. It features a sleek, modern design, with a steel and concrete structure and a glass-enclosed observation deck that offers 360-degree views of the city. The observation deck is located at a height of 150 meters, and visitors can take an elevator to reach the top.

In addition to the observation deck, the Donauturm also features a restaurant and a café, where visitors can enjoy a meal while taking in the stunning views. The tower is also a popular spot for bungee jumping and para-gliding.

Whether you're a local or a tourist, the Donauturm is a must-see attraction in Vienna. So be sure to add it to your itinerary and experience the beauty of Vienna from a whole new perspective!

Just a few moments after the departure of aerodrome Stockerau our tour will lead us along the river Danube and the castle ruin of “Greifenstein”. We will fly over the city of Klosterneuburg with the baroque monastery and its beautiful vineyards. Then we’ll follow the river further to the city of Vienna. We will pass one of the biggest wetlands of middle Europe, which includes a third of the national park “Donau-Auen”. As the journey continues, we will fly over Vienna’s famous fun-park, the “Prater”. From up here we will enjoy the great view over one of the city’s most prominent sights, the “Riesenrad” with its typical red wagons. Vienna’s “Prater” includes not only fun and roller coasters, but also a green oasis in the middle of the city. The “Praterpark” lies just three kilometers from the core of the city and it stands for pure nature, ideal for long walks and an awesome sight from the air. Our sight seeing tour continues with a spectacular view over the “Augarten” with its well-known flak towers and the “Hermannskogel”- with 542 meters Vienna’s highest mountain. Surely one of the biggest highlights of our tour will be the “Donauturm”. With its 252 meters it stands so close to us up in the air that you will think you could reach out and touch its tip while we fly past. On our way back we can relish the magnificence of the Danube vale with its mixed woodlands and the vineyards at “Bisamberg”. We will fly past the imposing castle “Kreuzenstein” and “Schönborn” right before the approach for Stockerau aerodrome starts.
